Super Greg from the past

A funny thing happened to me just now: when reading the name "greg" of some guy in the iNet in no particular context I remembered something my old buddy Matthias showed me, some great shit I first watched years ago, even before 2ooo I think, namely the funny character "Super Greg", a deliberately bad DJ, who caught my eye with a short video clip of himself performing as a DJ entitled "Da Number One". Furthermore there was a website with some nice pictures of him posing with his friends in his neighbourhood - www.supergreg.com/ - but unfortunately the site is down by now. The video clip can be watched further below.

Well anyway, the funny thing is that I realized only seconds later after I remembered the character Super Greg, that this person is part of Sacha Baron Cohen's earlier performances! Borat is Super Greg!

It's also funny because back in the days, in all my naivity I always thought Super Greg was real, but now that I know it's Sacha, of course, he absolutely is a comedy character. Tss, silly me ... yet, interestingly, Wikipedia does neither confirm nor deny this piece of information. Maybe I should go add it ... [...]

Puppet Terrorists & Security

Imagine the madness of a middle-east suicide bomber running wildly at you. Okay, now imagine a puppet resembling a middle-east suicide bomber running wildly at you. And now that you got that: imagine a puppet resembling a middle-east suicide bomber after his successfull mission. Think I had a bad dream? Well, you just thought damn wrong [...]

Updating from Dapper Drake to Nullified Nirvana

Yaaaay, I crashed my Ubuntu again. Jooooooy \(-.- )/

In a ridiculously unnecessary attempt to upgrade my distribution from Dapper Drake to Feisty Fawn I found out that I have to go all the steps in between, meaning to first install Edgy Eft before installing the even newer Version Feisty Fawn. So I launched the Ubuntu Update Manager which downloaded a load of files for about an incredible hour, just to watch another half an hour in front of the monitor not being able to do anything because it has to install the downloaded packages, of course ... well, about 6 minutes before having finished this blatant process I notice the icons of my desktop's folders being at least twice as big - and several errors in the log of the process.

Of course, now I don't know those errors anymore ... nevertheless the Update Manager seemed to have said "Good Bye" as it didn't respond to any of my commands or yellings forcing me to hit the reset button. Great. Now the bootup doesn't reach the command line, meaning I can start loading Ubuntu and watch it never finishing it.

Hoooraaaay ... but "updating this great OS ist just *that* easy" ...

C'n'P-Adventure-Reflection

Okay, I've completed the demo of Jack Keane a few days ago and I must say that I really enjoyed it after its first half, despite the not so deep and rich character development and story I had hoped for. It probably would have been better if the ugly 3D-graphics had been replaced with beautiful 2D-illustrations IMHO but I guess that just wouldn't be appropriate in regard of "visual state of the art" ... anyway, the synchronisation was pretty satisfying, much better than I feared after watching the trailers, with a lot of recognizable voices but I would rather hear some new voices than the one's I already know and have associations with. But that's just the problem of the set of voice actors in this country which has next to nothing to do with the game itself. The control system has been reduced to a mere two button scenario, one for examination, the other one for the usual use / take item; talk but it was everything the game needed, really. What I just can't decide is whether this is a progression or a regression in regard of earlier classic Click'n'Point-Adventure-Games ... nevertheless, I think I'll give the full game a try. Although I can't say I support this method of game development where more time and money has been spent on voice acting than on characters and story. [...]
