WLAN Setup
Wie habe ich mich gefreut, als ich auf meinem neuen Betriebssystem Ubuntu ins iNet konnte, schon gleich nachdem ich die noetigen WLAN-Packages runtergeladen hatte. Das ist inzwischen schon gut mehrere Monate her. Dummerweise hab ich mich nie gefragt, warum ich eigentlich niemals ein Passwort fuer unseren Passwort-geschuetzten Router-Zugang eingeben musste. Naja, als mein Bruder dann den Router mitsamt Telefon in sein Zimmer geholt hat, hat sich ueberraschenderweise herausgestellt, dass ich *die ganze Zeit* mit dem Router des Nachbarn, dessen Netzwerk ungeschuetzt ist, verbunden war (und noch immer bin!). Also habe ich mir vorgenommen, als naechste "grosse Ubuntu-Aufgabe" das richtige Setup mit unserem Router einzurichten. Leider ist das einfacher gesagt als getan.
Unter System > Administration > Networking stellt man normalerweise alles Noetige ein. Das geht nur etwas schwer, wenn das gesuchte Netzwerk nicht in der PopUp-Liste erscheint.
Der fuer solche problematischen Faelle empfohlene Network-Manager hat mir nicht im geringsten geholfen: er hat ausser einmal nie wirklich funktioniert und in dieser kurzen Zeitspanne liess sich aufgrund Ablehnung des Passworts seitens des Programms auch nichts bewerkstelligen.
Das naechste Programm, das ich ausprobiert habe, war Wifi-Radar, welches sich als ebenso nutzlos fuer mich herausstellte, weil meine Einstellungen irgendwie nichts ausgewirkt haben.
Also wagte ich mich der Einstellung per Hand zu und bearbeitete die Datei /etc/network/interfaces - wieder kein Erfolg.

An den letzten Zeilen sieht man, wie letzten Endes gar nichts mehr ging. So aehnlich wie bei meinem juengsten Versuch, nachdem Opera sich nicht mehr starten liess. Jetzt hab ich mittels Firefox ergooglet, dass ich in der /etc/X11/xorg.conf etwas umstellen musste. So kann ich jetzt Opera wieder starten. Allerdings nur mit reduzierter Farbtiefe. Irgendwie habe ich das Gefuehl, dass ich, jedes mal wenn ich etwas in Ubuntu optimieren oder reparieren will, alles nur noch schlimmer mache. This sucks ... :^(

An den letzten Zeilen sieht man, wie letzten Endes gar nichts mehr ging. So aehnlich wie bei meinem juengsten Versuch, nachdem Opera sich nicht mehr starten liess. Jetzt hab ich mittels Firefox ergooglet, dass ich in der /etc/X11/xorg.conf etwas umstellen musste. So kann ich jetzt Opera wieder starten. Allerdings nur mit reduzierter Farbtiefe. Irgendwie habe ich das Gefuehl, dass ich, jedes mal wenn ich etwas in Ubuntu optimieren oder reparieren will, alles nur noch schlimmer mache. This sucks ... :^(

Also ich hab mir auch kürzlich Wlan eingerichtet für Vista und Wii. Das Netzwerk wurde auch nicht angezeigt weil die SSID vom Router verdeckt wurde, dass heißt dann, dass die Einstellungen per Hand gemacht werden müssen. Ist aber eigentlich auch kein Thema weil nur Kennung und Pass eingetragen werden müssen und ggf die MAC-Adresse im Router freigeschaltet werden muss.

nun, das ist bei mir etwas komplizierter, weil ich schon die Einstellungen per Hand leider ohne Erfolg ausprobiert habe. Die MAC-Adresse ist auch freigeschaltet.
Juengsten Erkenntnissen aus #ubuntu-de zufolge, koennte es mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit damit zusammenhaengen, dass ich einen WLAN-USB-Stick verwende, der bei Ubuntu angeblich generell Schwierigkeiten macht.
Ich werde mich da mal genauer einlesen muessen, ob der Kerl, mit dem ich sprach, wirklich einfach nur schlechte Erfahrungen mit den Sticks hatte, weshalb der Kauf einer WLAN-Karte erstmal etwas uebertrieben ist, da sich das Problem mit etwas Frickelarbeit loesen laesst, oder ob ich tatsaechlich shoppen gehen muss.
