Taiwan Gets Just 500 PS3 Units

Taiwan to receive only 500 PS3s on launch day
Taiwan's included in the lucky set of countries destined to receive PS3 shipments on November 17's launch day, but only just barely. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the entire country will receive a laughable pittance of 500 60 GB units, 150 of which will get doled out during a launch event in the capital city of Taipei. The remaining 350 consoles will be carved up between the nation's various retail outlets, including Sony's own storefronts, and will sell for TW$17,980 (about US$550). The cheaper 20 GB version will not even go on sale in the island territory until December, though it will be at the relatively bargain price of TW$14,980 (about US$450).
This news comes amid speculation from analysts that Sony's actual launch day deliveries will fall in the 150K-200K range, rather than the already diminished 400K numbers that Sony has publicly promised.
