Snake Robots On A Plane
Insanity! Nearly 3o YouTube-clips are being psoted by me in one single blog psot. "I must be nuts!" you'll surely think. Well, that's no news for me but I definitely had my fun watching some of the newest and some of the coolest in current robotic, android and cyborg development. Mostly snakes, though.
If you're not interested in a horde of amazing robotic themed vids - which is more than understandable when looking at the sheer mass of 'em - just have a look at the first vid. It's a good culmination of all. And more importantly the best vid of them. I guess my brother had done the research already when he sent me that video. [...]

- 01) Modular Snake Robots [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Incredibly awesome, if you ask me. Imagine the places that you couldn't reach before with conventional robots. But unfortunately it still needs a power cord. On the contrary the robot works outdoor in dirt and water, too.
sent by Mika77 - 02) Self-Replicating Repairing Robots (http://www.forofriki.com) [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
If the video wasn't accelerated by four times I'd think this robot was somehow great. I can't think of a purpose that doesn't seem constructed, though.
sent by Daemon - 03) Latest an introduction of an advanced snake robot in Japan [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Just ignore the typically japanese gasps for a second (-.-' ) and enjoy the finest in modern robot technology. Just look how the snake moves in the water. Absolutely fantastic, realistic, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
- 04) Cool Robot Snake [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Another wireless robot snake, by western manufacturers. Looks somehow rendered ;^)
- 05) Advance Female Android Aiko AI robot fembot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
The progress hasn't changed much it seems, since I last had a look at Aiko in a WDR- or Arte-documentary or so. I don't know if he faked the tracing but it looked like it to me.
- 06) Dancing Sony Robots [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Asimo - what a sweet combination of stylistic tradition and modern technology.
- 07) Androids - Are they already near us? -?? [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
A little collage of fun pics focusing on androids to loosen things up on your long way down the other vids ;^)
[ Woody's Checkpoint: # top # ] - 08) RC Spider [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Having fun with your r/c spider trying to frighten those poor little cats. But I wouldn't believe this spider was mechanical if I hadn't seen it in motion. Or heard it rather - despite it's unnatural colors (¬_¬ )
- 09) Lynxmotion Aluminium AH3-R Robot #7 Tripod gait [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Not very impressive but still a nice movement technique, this 6-leg-method. Now, if the machine was moving at least three times faster then it would be impressive ...
- 10) The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Booooooaah! That is some crazy shit. This robot looks dull on the first sight - like two guys in a cow costume (just with a second ass instead of a head) but look at how fast it is. And when that guy kicks it ... heavy, heavy, heavy. If they can climb stairs, too, I'll order them when for my relocation. 'Cause I definitely won't carry a washing machine up on a floor above ground floor a second time ... oh boy, just look at this: it can walk on mud, snow, puddles, rock - even flat ground! And look how it catches its fall. I want to see that machine in the midst of a hurricane!
- 11) Robonova-1 Advanced Acrobatic Robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
I have no sound here - I don't know why -- Robot Ballet. Monkey Robots. Monkey Robot Ballet!
- 12) Murata Boy, the Robot that can Ride Bicycles [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Whoa, a robot that can drive a bicycle? Think what complex procedure it is to drive a bike. And we still can't make a robot that moves like a human, instead it tries hard but fails like Aiko.
- 13) RuBot II - The Rubik's cube solving robot. [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Awesome helmet/head. But stoopid sound effects x^D
- 14) Cockroach Controlled Mobile Robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
A mobile table controlled by a cockroach - can't wait for the new furniture collection of IKEA ;^)
[ Woody's Checkpoint: # top # ] - 15) LAND WALKER -Japanese Robot suit- [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Ho!, they already built these? We're much closer to Metal Gear and Gundam than I thought ... oh look, it already comes with its own gatling gun and laser beam. I suppose they really try to achieve Gundam. Or this vid's a fake ... with the cars going by without stopping and wondering. Hm, they might as well have got accustomed to it. After all, it must have took some time to build it ... oh, those are just "tennis ball throwers".
- 16) Skype Robot Demonstration with WowWee Roboquad - Video [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Reminds me of Lifeline, e-hehe. But the communication aspect via Skype is nice.
- 17) Robotic Self Healing Chair [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
An empty chair on a stage in front of an anticipated crowd? Watch it fall and rebuild itself. Of course the parts are fix in their size. Like in videogames: when something breaks it always breaks into the same number of pieces with the same size. But still funny. In which direction robotics is going - I would have never imagined that. Hm, I wonder if the chair has changed the order of collecting its parts autonomously in the second run or due to its "work in progress"-ness.
- 18) Breast Massage Robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
lol, why isn't his a japanese invention? This is soo japanese (^_^ ) and japanesely ridiculous.
- 19) Snake Robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Snake robots and vehicles enhanced with snake robots invade the universe! This is sooo Lunar Lander - or Mars that's just the same.
- 20) swimming snake robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
A closer look at the swimming exemplar.
- 21) Snake Robot Locomotion [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
That's a nice one. Small. Agile. No power chord. But maybe r/c.
[ Woody's Checkpoint: # top # ] - 22) Spider vs Mr. Bill [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
There's nothing better than to play with the curiosity of a cat. Like with an r/c toy ;^) A cute one, too. The cat, of course.
- 23) Roboreptile in action at Digital Life 2006 [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
Oh, have a look at that little rascal. Definitely something for the kids.
- 24) Robonova-1 on skates III [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
More of that Robonova Ballet Monkey. Impressive what you can do with this fella with enough willing power. Well, don't expect too much from this clip. It's not that impressive .. but the thought that lies behind ... Think about it.
- 25) Miuro, the new music robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
A mobile jukebox. Imagine you walking down the streets with this leak iPod-robot strolling down behind ya playing your music.
- 26) Newlaunches.com - Tachikoma Robot [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
A real life Tachikoma! Now we can start casting a Major Kusanagi for a real live widescreen picture (^^ ) Although I *reeeaaaaally* hated the german voices of these blue robots.
- 27) Techno Tokyo: Robot Worn On Your Body Can Increase Your Stre [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
A new exoskeleton as opposed to an old one, Bleex. And looking much more beautiful. I've said it earlier and I'll say it again: in 3o years those exoskeletons will look like Metal Gear's Gray Fox.
- 28) Robot Fish [watch here] [watch at YouTube]
I'd have never thought of this creature being robotic, it looks so realistic - especially in motion ...
